Gian Lorenzo Bernini
Gian Lorenzo Bernini was a talented artist from Italy. He lived a long time ago, from 1598 to 1680. Bernini was very good at making statues, designing buildings, and even painting pictures. People think he was one of the best artists of his time.
Bernini was born in Naples. His father was also an artist, and he taught Bernini how to work with stone. When Bernini was just a little boy, he showed great talent. Later, his family moved to Rome, where he met important people who gave him jobs.
In Rome, Bernini worked on many famous places. He helped design St. Peter's Basilica, a big church in the Vatican City. He also made beautiful fountains, like the Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi in Piazza Navona. These fountains are still loved by people today.
Bernini’s statues tell stories from history and religion. Some of his famous works are The Goat Amalthea with the Infant Jupiter and a Faun and Apollo and Daphne. His art can be seen in museums and churches all around the world. Because of his amazing skills, Bernini is remembered as one of the greatest artists ever.
