What Is a Goose?

A goose is a special kind of bird that belongs to the waterfowl family. Geese are often seen near lakes, rivers, and farms. They are strong birds with long necks and webbed feet, which help them swim. Baby geese are called goslings, and when geese are together on the ground, we call them a gaggle.

Fun Facts About Geese

When geese fly, they often form a V shape in the sky. This helps them save energy on long journeys. Geese are also known for staying together in pairs, which makes them strong and helps them find more food. In many stories and rhymes, geese appear as funny and clever characters, like in the tales of Mother Goose.

Geese Around the World

Geese live in many places around the world. Some geese, like the Canada goose, are found in North America, while others live in Europe and Asia. There are even special kinds of geese, such as the snow goose, that have beautiful white feathers. People have kept geese for a long time because they give us feathers and delicious food.
