Gros Morne National Park
Gros Morne National Park is a beautiful place in Canada. It is on the west coast of Newfoundland. This park is very special because it shows us how the Earth changes over millions of years.
The park is named after a big mountain called Gros Morne. In French, this name means “large mountain standing alone.” The park has many different kinds of rocks. Some of these rocks came from deep inside the Earth and were pushed up a long time ago. One special place is called the Tablelands. It looks like a dry desert because the soil is hard for plants to grow in.
Gros Morne National Park is home to many animals. You can see moose, which are big deer-like animals. There are also smaller animals like beavers, red foxes, and river otters. In the water near the park, you might spot seals and different kinds of whales.
The park has many trails for walking and exploring. One fun trail is called the James Callaghan Trail. It takes you over Gros Morne Mountain. There are also many arts festivals in the park, like the Gros Morne Theatre Festival.
In 1987, Gros Morne became a World Heritage Site. This means it is very important for nature and science. People all over the world visit to see its beautiful scenery and learn about Earth’s history.
