What is Gunpowder?

Gunpowder is a special mix of three simple things: sulfur, charcoal, and potassium nitrate. When mixed just right, it can burn very fast and make lots of gas. This makes it useful for many fun and important jobs.

Where Did Gunpowder Come From?

Gunpowder was first made in China a very long time ago. People in China discovered it by mixing these three things together. They used it for making smoke and flames for shows and special events. Over time, people found many ways to use this mix.

Why Do We Remember Gunpowder?

Gunpowder is one of the Four Great Inventions from China. It helped people make fireworks that light up the sky. It also made early guns and rockets possible. Even though we have better materials now, gunpowder still reminds us of an important time in history when people learned new ways to use science.
