Hampstead Heath
Hampstead Heath is a big, old park in London. It covers a huge area, with open spaces, ponds, and woodlands. The park sits on a sandy ridge, one of the highest points in the city. It stretches from Hampstead to Highgate.
One special part of Hampstead Heath is called Parliament Hill. It has a wonderful view over London, and this view is protected by law. Along the eastern side of the heath, there are ponds where people can swim outdoors. These ponds were built long ago to store clean water from the River Fleet.
Hampstead Heath is very important for nature. It is cared for by the City of London Corporation. Most of the park is inside the London Borough of Camden, while nearby areas like Golders Hill Park are in the London Borough of Barnet. In the summer, people enjoy concerts near the lakes there.
The heath has many fun places to explore. You can find playgrounds, a swimming pool called a lido, and even a training track. It is a lovely place to walk, run, or just enjoy the outdoors. Many people visit Hampstead Heath to relax and have fun.
