Hannibal, Missouri

Hannibal is a friendly city along the Mississippi River in Missouri. It sits in Marion and Ralls counties and is the largest city in Marion County. The city is easy to reach by car, with Interstate 72 and roads like U.S. Route 24, U.S. Route 36, and U.S. Route 61 passing through. Hannibal is about 110 miles from St. Louis and 195 miles from Kansas City.

Hannibal is special because it was the childhood home of Samuel Clemens, who wrote wonderful stories as Mark Twain. He used places and feelings from Hannibal in his famous books, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Visitors can see many historic spots, like the Mark Twain Boyhood Home & Museum and Mark Twain Cave. People from all over the world come to Hannibal to learn about its history and enjoy fun activities.

The city is also known for the "Unsinkable" Margaret Brown, who was born there. Her cottage is now a museum where people can learn about her life. Hannibal has many attractions, such as the Mark Twain Memorial Lighthouse, which offers a great view, and Riverview Park, where you can walk and enjoy the river.

Hannibal has a warm climate with cold winters and hot summers. The city has its own school district and a public library, which was the first free library in Missouri. Hannibal is a place full of history, stories, and friendly people.
