Harriet Tubman
Harriet Tubman was a brave and inspiring woman who helped many people gain their freedom. She was born into slavery around 1822 in Dorchester County, Maryland. Her family faced very hard times, but she grew up strong and full of spirit.
After escaping slavery in 1849, Harriet made many trips back to help her family and others find freedom. She used a secret path called the Underground Railroad, traveling at night and hiding during the day. People called her โMosesโ because she guided many to safety, just like a leader in old stories.
During the American Civil War, Harriet helped the Union Army in many ways, such as working as a nurse and showing soldiers safe paths. She became the first woman to lead an important military mission in the United States. Later in life, she worked for women's suffrage and lived in Auburn, New York, where she helped many people in need.
Harriet Tubman is remembered as a symbol of courage and freedom. Today, there are parks, schools, and even a ship named after her. She inspire many people with her bravery and strong spirit.
