Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport
Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport is a very busy place where people fly to many parts of the world. It is found in Georgia and is the main airport for the city of Atlanta. It is named after two old mayors of Atlanta: William B. Hartsfield and Maynard Jackson.
This airport is very important because it is the busiest airport in the world! In 2024, more than 108 million passengers flew through here. That’s a lot of people! The airport is where Delta Air Lines has its big office and many of its airplanes. Delta has over 1,000 flights every day from here to many places.
The airport has five runways where planes take off and land. The longest runway is almost four miles long and can hold very big planes, like the Airbus A380. The airport is split into two main buildings. One is for flights inside the country, and the other is for flights to other countries. They are connected by special walkways and a train called The Plane Train.
You can get to the airport by car, bus, or train. There is a special train station right inside the airport that is part of Atlanta’s MARTA system. There are also many parking spots and places to pick up or drop off passengers. The airport has lots of shops, places to eat, and services to help travelers.
The airport was first built in 1925 and has grown a lot over the years. It has been very busy since the 1930s and helped many people travel all over the world. Today, it is a very important place for travel and business.
