Hennig Brand

Hennig Brand was a curious scientist from Hamburg. He lived a long time ago, around the year 1630. Brand was very interested in old science ideas, especially something called the "philosopher's stone." People thought this could change ordinary metals into shiny gold.

One day, while mixing different things in his lab, Brand made a surprising discovery. He found a new kind of matter called phosphorus. This special material glows in the dark! It was one of the first new elements found in modern science, and it is still used today in many things.

Brand’s story shows how amazing things can happen when we try new experiments. Even though he was looking for one thing, he found something even more exciting by accident!
