Home Appliances

Home appliances are special machines that help us with everyday tasks in our homes. They make cooking, cleaning, and keeping food fresh much easier. These machines usually use electricity to work.

Some common home appliances are stoves, refrigerators, toasters, and air conditioners. People have used these helpful machines since the early 1900s, especially in America. They became popular because they saved time on chores, letting families spend more time together.

There are two main types of home appliances. Major appliances are bigger machines like refrigerators and washing machines. Sometimes these are called white goods because they are often painted white. Small appliances are smaller and easier to move. Examples include toasters and coffee makers, which are called brown goods.

Today, many home appliances can connect to the internet. This makes our homes smarter! For example, you can turn a machine on or off from far away. When old appliances are no longer used, they are recycled. This means we take apart the old machines and use their parts again, which helps take care of our planet.
