Howard University
Howard University is a special school in Washington, D.C. It is called a university because it has many places where students can learn many different things. People have been going to Howard since 1867, which is a very long time ago!
The school is named after a kind man named Oliver Otis Howard. He helped start the school and wanted to make sure everyone could learn. Howard University is very proud because it does a lot of important research. This helps find new things and teach students about discoveries.
Students at Howard can choose from over 120 different subjects to study. This includes art, science, and even medicine! The school has many buildings and places for students to live and learn. One famous building is called Founders Library. It is very old and important.
Howard University has many traditions. One big tradition is called Homecoming. It is a fun time with games, dances, and performances. Another tradition is Springfest, where students celebrate spring with shows and fun activities.
Many famous people went to Howard University. They are actors, writers, and even leaders of our country. The school has helped many people learn and become successful. Howard University is known as "The Mecca" because it is a very special place for learning and growing.
