Hvar Island
Hvar is a beautiful island in the Adriatic Sea, close to the coast of Croatia. It lies between three other islands: Brač, Vis, and Korčula. The island is long and narrow, stretching about 68 kilometres. It has tall hills made of limestone and is covered with pine forests.
Hvar has wide, green areas where people grow lots of plants. You can find vineyards, olive groves, fruit orchards, and lovely lavender fields. The weather is very nice, with mild winters and warm, sunny summers. About 10,678 people live on Hvar, making it one of the most populated islands in Croatia.
Long ago, the ancient Greeks started a town called Pharos on Hvar. Today, this area is known as Stari Grad and is a special UNESCO World Heritage Site. The island has a rich history and many beautiful buildings from different times.
Hvar is also famous for its lovely beaches and is a popular place for tourists to visit. The island's mild Mediterranean climate and beautiful landscapes make it a wonderful spot for people to enjoy. You can see many yachts and sailboats in the busy ports during the summer. Hvar is also known for growing lavender and making delicious wines from the Plavac Mali grape.
