Jean-Jacques Rousseau
Jean-Jacques Rousseau was a writer and thinker from Geneva. He loved to share his ideas about how people should live together and how children should learn.
Rousseau grew up in Geneva, a beautiful city with strong traditions. He read many stories and learned about history as a young boy. As he grew older, he traveled to places like France and Italy, meeting new people and learning more ideas.
Rousseau wrote many important books. In The Social Contract, he talked about how a fair government works. In Émile, or On Education, he shared his ideas about how children should grow and learn. His book Confessions was one of the first true stories about someone’s own life.
People remember Rousseau because his ideas helped shape thoughts about politics and education. His words inspired many, even long after he passed away. Today, he is known as one of the most important thinkers in history.
