Who Was Joan of Arc?
Joan of Arc was a brave young woman who lived a long time ago in France. She was born around 1412 in a small village called Domrémy. From a young age, Joan felt special messages from saints. These saints were archangel Michael, Saint Margaret, and Saint Catherine. She believed these messages guided her.
Helping France
When Joan was older, she decided to help the French king, Charles VII. France was having a hard time during something called the Hundred Years' War. Joan wanted to help Charles become king. Her most famous moment was during the siege of Orléans in 1429. Her brave spirit gave the French people hope. Thanks to her efforts, Charles was able to have his coronation as king in Reims.
Why People Remember Her
Even though Joan faced many challenges, she is remembered as a hero. In 1920, she was recognized as a saint by the Catholic Church. Today, Joan of Arc is admired for her courage and strong beliefs. People all around the world know her story and see her as a symbol of bravery and hope. Her life continues to inspire many, and she is celebrated especially in the city of Orléans.
