Adapted from Wikipedia · Explorer experience

Johann Rudolf Glauber was a clever scientist who lived over 400 years ago. He was born in Karlstadt am Main, a town in Germany. Even though he did not finish school, he learned a lot by himself, especially about pharmacy.

Glauber moved to many places, like Vienna, Salzburg, Giessen, and finally Amsterdam in the Netherlands. In Amsterdam, he started a business making useful chemicals. One of his big discoveries was a compound called sodium sulfate. Because of him, this substance is still known today as “Glauber’s salt.”

Glauber studied many things, like the chemistry of wine production and made new medicines. He also wrote many books about his work, sharing his ideas with the world. His discoveries helped people learn more about chemicals and how to use them.
