Jumping is a fun way that animals and people move by pushing themselves up into the air. When something jumps, it goes on a curved path before coming back down. This is different from running, where the whole body leaves the ground only for a short time.

Many animals jump to get around or stay safe. For example, the kangaroo often hops to travel long distances. Frogs jump mainly to escape danger. Even dolphins sometimes jump out of the water for fun!

People also love jumping in sports and games. The long jump is when people see how far they can leap forward. In the high jump, athletes jump over a bar to see how high they can go. Riders do show jumping where they guide horses over fun obstacles.

Jumping is amazing because it lets us move in exciting ways. Whether it's an animal, a person, or even a robot, jumping is a wonderful way to move through the air.
