Keyboard Instruments
Keyboard instruments are special musical instruments you play by pressing keys with your fingers. The most common keyboard instrument is the piano. People also play organs and electronic keyboards, like synthesizers and digital pianos.
These instruments make beautiful music in many ways. Some, like the piano, use strings inside. Others, like the organ, use air to make sound. Modern electronic keyboards can change their sounds with special technology.
Long ago, people played keyboard instruments like the harpsichord and clavichord. In the 1700s, a man named Bartolomeo Cristofori made the first modern piano in Italy. This piano let players make music louder or softer by pressing the keys gently or hard.
Today, keyboard instruments are used everywhere—from concerts to homes. They are loved by many because they can make so many different sounds and help create wonderful music.
Whether it’s a piano in a classroom or an organ in a church, keyboard instruments bring joy and beauty to our world.
