Kraków

Kraków is a beautiful and very old city in Poland. It is the second-largest city in the country and has over 800,000 people living there. Kraków sits on the Vistula River and is part of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship.

Kraków is special because it was once the capital of Poland, long ago, until 1596. Today, it is famous for its old buildings and history. In 1978, the city's Old Town was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visitors can see amazing places like the Wawel Cathedral and Wawel Royal Castle. There is also a huge square called Rynek Główny, which is one of the largest medieval market squares in Europe. People can also explore the deep Wieliczka Salt Mine, which has tunnels and lakes inside the mountain.

The city is also home to Jagiellonian University, one of the oldest universities in the world. It has a big library with many old and special books. Kraków is a place where people can learn, visit, and live in a beautiful historic setting.

Kraków has many parks and green spaces. One famous park is Planty Park, which circles the old town. There is also Jordan Park, which was Europe’s first public park with playgrounds for children. The city has about 40 parks in total!

People love to visit Kraków because of its friendly atmosphere and many things to see. Some favorite places near the city include the Tatra Mountains for hiking and the Wieliczka Salt Mine for underground adventures. The city has many hotels and is a popular spot for travelers from all over the world.

Football is a popular sport in Kraków, and the city has two big teams: Wisła Kraków and Cracovia. They play exciting matches and have many fans. The city also hosts fun events like the Cracovia Marathon and has a big venue called the Tauron Arena Kraków for concerts and sports.
