London Stansted Airport
London Stansted Airport is a busy place where airplanes take off and land. It is found near a town called Stansted Mountfitchet, in a part of England named Essex. It is about 31 miles from Central London. This airport is the third busiest in London, after Heathrow and Gatwick.
Stansted Airport has flights to over 180 places! People can fly to many parts of Europe, Asia, and North Africa from here. One airline that uses Stansted a lot is Ryanair. They have their biggest base there and fly to more than 150 places.
The airport has one big building where travelers go. It opened in 1991 and has three smaller parts where airplanes park. The building was designed by a company called Foster and Partners. It is special because of how it was made.
Getting to and from the Airport
You can get to Stansted Airport by train, bus, or car. The Stansted Express train goes to London’s Liverpool Street station every 15 minutes. The trip takes about 45 to 53 minutes. There are also buses that go to London and other towns. If you drive, the airport is easy to reach from London and Cambridge by the M11 motorway.

- Stansted Airport has 52 places where airplanes can park. Twelve of these have special bridges called jetbridges.
- The airport has a tall control tower. It was the tallest in Britain when it was built in 1996.
- There are hotels very close to the airport, like Holiday Inn Express, Novotel, Premier Inn, Radisson Blu, and Hampton by Hilton. You can walk or take a short bus ride to get there.
