Otters are playful and clever animals that love water. They swim very well and live near rivers, lakes, and oceans all around the world. The Lutra group of otters is especially good at sliding on their bellies and catching fish.

These animals help keep water areas healthy. When they look for food, they clean the water and control how many fish there are.

Lutra otters live both in water and on land. They like places with trees, rocks, and slow-moving water where they can find their favorite food—fish! Sometimes they also eat frogs, turtles, birds, and even small creatures like beetles and crayfish.

Otters can live alone or in small groups. In families, the females take care of the cubs, while the males watch over their area. They mark their spaces so others know who lives there. Even though they might show off or stay away from each other, they usually find peaceful ways to share their homes.
