Malala Yousafzai
Malala Yousafzai loves learning and helping others go to school. She was born on July 12, 1997, in the Swat District in Pakistan. Her father, Ziauddin Yousafzai, ran schools and always believed girls should learn too.
When Malala was young, some people in her area did not want girls to go to school. But Malala kept speaking up for everyone to have the chance to learn. She even wrote secret stories for the BBC Urdu about her life. Her brave words helped many people understand how important school is.
At just 17 years old, Malala became the youngest person ever to win a big award called the Nobel Peace Prize. She won it in 2014 for her work to help girls go to school. Malala also started the Malala Fund to give money to girls who want to learn but cannot afford school.
Malala studied hard in school. She went to Edgbaston High School in Birmingham, England, and later to Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford. She learned about Philosophy, Politics and Economics. Today, she travels the world talking about why every child should have the chance to go to school and learn big things.
