Mesoglea
Adapted from Wikipedia ยท Explorer experience
Mesoglea is a special material that helps some sea creatures keep their shape. It is found in animals like jellyfish and coral. This material is made mostly of water and has stretchy properties.
The mesoglea sits between two layers in these animals. It acts like an internal skeleton, giving support to their bodies. Thanks to its stretchy nature, it can move and then return to its shape.
Scientists study mesoglea to learn more about how sea creatures stay firm and stable in the water. It is different from a similar material called mesohyl, which is found in sponges. Both are made outside cells but work in different ways.
