Who Are Mormons?

Mormons are a friendly group of people who follow a special way of life. They belong to a church called the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Most Mormons today are part of this church, which began with a man named Joseph Smith in upstate New York.

Mormons love their families very much. They believe families can stay together forever. They also believe in helping others and being kind. Many Mormons choose to travel far away to share their beliefs with people who are interested. These trips are called missions, and they are a big part of being a Mormon.

What Do Mormons Believe?

Mormons believe in Jesus Christ and see Him as very important. They read the Bible and another holy book called the Book of Mormon. They believe Joseph Smith helped restart the Christian church and that special leaders, called prophets, guide the church today.

Mormons think everyone is a special spirit child of God. They work hard to live good lives by following Jesus’ teachings. They believe that by doing good things and believing in Jesus, they can live happily forever with their families.

How Do Mormons Live?

Mormons follow some special rules to stay healthy and strong. They do not use alcohol, tobacco, tea, coffee, or any harmful substances. They also believe in getting married before having close relationships and in treating each other with respect.

Families are very important to Mormons. Many families spend one night a week together doing fun activities. Mormons also like to give to others and help their communities. Young men and women often choose to serve missions, where they travel and help others learn about their faith.

Mormons meet together on Sundays in special buildings called meetinghouses. They share a special meal to remember promises they made when they joined the church. They also pray every day and read holy books to stay close to their beliefs.
