Nagasaki

Nagasaki is a beautiful city in Japan, located on the island of Kyushu. It is the capital of Nagasaki Prefecture. The city's name means "Long Cape" in Japanese, which describes its special shape by the sea.

A City with a Rich Past

Nagasaki has a long and interesting history as an important trading port. Long ago, it was a place where people from Portugal and the Netherlands came to trade. Today, many special historical sites, called the Hidden Christian Sites in the Nagasaki Region, are important places that are now UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

A Busy Modern City

Today, Nagasaki is a lively city with many people. About 392,000 people live there, enjoying its mild winters and hot, humid summers. The city is known for its strong economy, especially in shipbuilding and making big machines. Famous companies like Mitsubishi have factories there.

Nagasaki has many interesting places to visit. You can explore the Nagasaki Peace Park and learn about the city's history. The Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum and Nagasaki National Peace Memorial Hall for the Atomic Bomb Victims are places where people remember important events. You can also visit beautiful gardens like Glover Garden and enjoy tasty foods such as Champon and Castella.

Nagasaki also holds fun festivals, like the Nagasaki Lantern Festival during Chinese New Year and Kunchi in October. These festivals show the city's lively spirit and rich culture.
