Nelson's Column

Nelson's Column is a tall and famous monument in Trafalgar Square in Central London, England. It was built to remember Horatio Nelson, a great officer from the Royal Navy.

The column was built between 1840 and 1843. It is very tall, and on top is a statue of Nelson. Around the base are four big bronze lions. The pedestal of the column has bronze pictures showing moments from Nelson’s adventures.

In 2006, the column was repaired so it stays strong and beautiful for everyone to enjoy. Even though Nelson was not very tall when he lived, the statue of him on the column is much bigger!
