Neotropical Otter
The neotropical otter is a playful animal that lives in freshwater rivers and streams. You can find these otters from Mexico all the way down to South America. They love clean, fast-moving water and like to stay in areas with lots of plants nearby.
These otters have short, dark fur and long tails. They are good swimmers and usually live alone. They enjoy eating fish, small crabs, and other water creatures. Sometimes they also eat fruits and insects when fish are hard to find.
Neotropical otters are special because they show us how healthy the water is. They need clean rivers and forests to survive. People sometimes worry about them because their homes can be damaged by things like farming and pollution.
Otters are smart and curious. In some places, they even live near people and play in areas where people also fish. Scientists and local communities work together to help protect these wonderful animals and their homes.
