Nirvana
Nirvana was an American rock band that started in Aberdeen, Washington in 1987. The band was founded by lead singer and guitarist Kurt Cobain and bassist Krist Novoselic. They became very popular in the 1990s and helped make alternative rock well-known.
Nirvana began in the Seattle grunge scene. Their first album, Bleach, came out in 1989. The band's big moment happened with the song "Smells Like Teen Spirit" from their second album, Nevermind, released in 1991. This album was a huge success and changed the music world.
Nirvana mixed different music styles, like punk and pop, with loud sounds. Their songs talked about feelings that many fans related to. Their third album, In Utero, was released in 1993 and was also very popular.
Even though the band stopped making music in 1994, Nirvana is still remembered as one of the best-selling bands ever. They sold over 75 million records and won many awards. In 2014, they were honored by being added to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. People still love their music and remember them for making alternative rock famous.
