Olga Tokarczuk

Olga Tokarczuk is a well-loved writer from Poland. She was born on January 29, 1962, in a small town called Sulechów near Zielona Góra. Her parents were teachers, and she grew up in a cozy home with many books.
Olga studied clinical psychology at the University of Warsaw and later worked with people as a psychotherapist. She started writing stories and poems while she was studying. Her books are special because they mix made-up stories with real-life ideas. One of her famous books is called Flights. Another is Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead. Her big book The Books of Jacob came out in 2021 and 2022.
In 2018, Olga Tokarczuk won a very important prize called the Nobel Prize in Literature for her wonderful storytelling. Her books have been translated into almost 40 languages, so people all over the world can read them. She also started a foundation to help young writers and keep books alive. Olga lives in the beautiful Sudetes mountains near the border of Poland and the Czech Republic.
