What is an Orange Blossom?

An orange blossom is the lovely flower of the orange tree. It smells very nice and many people love its sweet fragrance. The orange blossom comes from the Citrus sinensis, which is the tree that grows oranges.

Uses of Orange Blossom

People use the orange blossom to make perfume because of its great smell. The petals can also be made into something called orange flower water. This is used in cooking, especially in sweet foods and baked goods. You can find it in French cuisine and Middle Eastern cuisine, as well as in foods from Spain and Mexico.

Fun Places

In the United States, the orange blossom is the special state flower of Florida. In Spain, a part of the coast is called the Costa del Azahar, which means “Orange Blossom Coast.” People there sometimes dry the blossoms to make a nice tea.
