Pacific Bluefin Tuna

The Pacific bluefin tuna is a very special fish that lives in the warm waters of the North Pacific Ocean. These fish are known for being very big, growing up to as long as a school bus and as heavy as an elephant!

These tuna are loved by many people because their meat is used for yummy foods like sushi and sashimi. In Japan, a part of the fish called toro is very special and tastes delicious. Eating bluefin tuna at the start of the new year is thought to bring good luck.

Pacific bluefin tuna can travel very far. They like to swim near the surface but can also go deep into the ocean. They breed in warm spots near Honshu, Okinawa, and Taiwan.

People have learned to take care of these fish. In the past, too many were caught, but now rules help them stay safe. Because of this, their numbers are growing again. This shows how important it is to share our oceans wisely.
