Peking Man

Peking Man was an early type of human who lived a very long time ago in what is now China. These early humans lived near a big cave called the Zhoukoudian Peking Man Site, just a little way from the city of Beijing. Scientists found the first clue about them in 1921, when they discovered a tooth in that cave.

Peking Man had strong bones and big teeth. Their heads were long and their brains were about the same size as ours are today. They made simple tools from stones, which helped them in their daily lives. Many pieces of these old tools were found in the same cave where their bones were discovered.

The story of Peking Man helped people learn more about our early ancestors. Even though some of the original bones were lost, scientists still study what they found and learn amazing things about human history. The place where these fossils were found is now a special World Heritage Site, meaning it is very important to many people around the world.
