Philippine Sea
Adapted from Wikipedia · Explorer experience
The Philippine Sea is the biggest sea in the whole world! It stretches over 5 million square kilometers and is part of the Western Pacific Ocean. It sits right east of the beautiful Philippine Archipelago, surrounded by many islands on all sides.
To the west, you’ll find the Ryukyu Islands and Taiwan. The southern edge touches the Philippines, including exciting islands like Luzon, Samar, Leyte, and Mindanao. Up north are Japanese islands such as Honshu, Shikoku, and Kyūshū. And to the east lie the Mariana Islands, home to Guam.
The Philippine Sea is full of amazing sea life. It is part of the Coral Triangle, an area with the most kinds of fish, coral, and other sea creatures in the world. You can spot sea turtles, sharks, moray eels, octopuses, sea snakes, and many tasty fish like tuna. This sea gives food and jobs to many people, especially through fishing and tourism, so it’s very important to keep it safe and healthy.
