A Special Island Far Away
Pitcairn Island is a very small place in the big blue Pacific Ocean. Only about 40 people live there, and they all live in one tiny village called Adamstown. This island is special because it is the home of people whose families came from a famous ship long ago.
Living on a Volcano
Pitcairn Island is a volcano, which means it was made by an old eruption under the sea. The land is very rocky, and big waves crash on the shore. The highest spot is called Pawala Valley Ridge, and it is as tall as a very big hill. Plants grow well there because the soil is warm and wet.
Animals Around
Many interesting animals live around Pitcairn Island. You can see birds making nests on the steep sides. The sea has fish like sea bream, barracuda, and tuna. Sometimes, people spot whales swimming nearby. But there are also rats that came later and sometimes trouble the island's other animals.
