Welcome to Provence

Provence is a beautiful place in southeastern France. It stretches from the Rhône River to the Mediterranean Sea. The biggest city is Marseille.

Long ago, the Romans named it Provincia Romana, which later became Provence. People there still celebrate their special traditions and history.

Fun Facts About Provence

Provence has a warm climate with hot, dry summers and mild winters. The wind called the mistral often blows through the area.

Many famous artists loved to paint in Provence because of the nice weather and clear light. Artists like Paul Cézanne, Vincent van Gogh, and Pierre Bonnard all spent time there.

People in Provence enjoy special foods like bouillabaisse, a seafood dish from Marseille, and ratatouille, a vegetable stew. They also love pétanque, a game where you throw balls to get close to a small target ball.

Provence is a wonderful place with beautiful landscapes, rich history, and delicious food!
