Provinces of Laos
Laos is a beautiful country in Southeast Asia. It is divided into 17 provinces and one special area for its capital city, Vientiane. Each province has its own little government. This helps take care of the people and places there.
In Lao, a province is called "ແຂວງ" (khwaeng). Vientiane is special because it is the capital and has its own special rules.
Long ago, there was a special area called Xaisomboun, but it is not used anymore. Today, the 17 provinces and Vientiane help look after everyone in Laos.
