Who Was Raoul Pictet?

Raoul-Pierre Pictet was a scientist from Switzerland. He was born on April 4, 1846, in Geneva, a beautiful city by a lake. Raoul loved to learn about how things work, especially gases and very cold temperatures.

A Big Discovery

In 1877, Raoul worked with a French scientist named Louis-Paul Cailletet. Together, they did something amazing: they turned oxygen into a liquid! This was a very important step in science and helped people learn new things about the world.

Why We Remember Him

Raoul Pictet became a professor in Geneva, where he taught and did more experiments. He wrote many books about his discoveries. Even today, his work helps scientists understand gases better. Raoul passed away in Paris in 1929, but his discoveries still matter.
