What is Riboflavin?

Riboflavin is a special vitamin called vitamin B₂. Our bodies need it to stay healthy and strong. It helps us get energy from food and keeps our cells working right. Riboflavin also helps our bodies use other important nutrients like iron.

Where Can We Find Riboflavin?

We can find riboflavin in many tasty foods! It is in meat, fish, eggs, dairy, green vegetables, mushrooms, and even almonds. Some places add riboflavin to grains to help everyone get enough. If we eat too much riboflavin, our body gets rid of the extra through urine, which can make our pee turn a bright yellow color.

Fun Uses of Riboflavin

Riboflavin is also used as a natural yellow color in foods. It is made by tiny living things like bacteria and fungi. Scientists can also make riboflavin in labs. It can even help make the cornea of our eyes stronger when used with special light.
