The Royal Air Force
The Royal Air Force, or RAF, is the air force of the United Kingdom. It helps keep the country safe and supports peace around the world. The RAF was created in 1918, making it one of the oldest air forces in the world.
The RAF uses many types of airplanes for different jobs. Some of these planes are fighters that protect the sky, while others help move troops and supplies. One famous team is the Red Arrows, which puts on exciting air shows with their special flying skills.
People who work for the RAF have different jobs and titles. These titles help organize how everyone works together. For example, some people might be leaders, like a Group Captain, while others might be newer members, like an Airman.
The RAF also has special symbols, like a roundel with three rings. Its motto is Per Ardua ad Astra, which means “Through Struggle to the Stars.” These symbols show the spirit and identity of the RAF.
The RAF works with other parts of the British military, such as the Royal Navy and the British Army, to make sure the country stays safe. It has bases all over the United Kingdom and some places far away too.
