Welcome to Saint Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha
Saint Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha is a special group of three faraway islands in the South Atlantic Ocean. These islands belong to the United Kingdom and each has its own unique story. The islands are Saint Helena, Ascension Island, and the group of islands called Tristan da Cunha.
These islands are very far apart. They were all formed by old volcanoes. People first found them many years ago. Saint Helena was used by ships as a resting place when they traveled to Asia. Later, a famous leader named Napoleon Bonaparte stayed there for a time.
Each island has its own special things. Ascension Island has a big airfield that helps planes fly across the ocean. Tristan da Cunha is one of the most isolated places on Earth, with only a few people living there. The main town is called Edinburgh of the Seven Seas. The highest point in all the islands is Queen Mary's Peak, a big mountain on Tristan da Cunha.
Life on these islands is different from most places. Each island has its own small school and special ways to talk to the rest of the world. The islands share the same time as London, even though they are far away across the sea.
