Solar Deities
Solar deities are special gods and goddesses that represent the Sun. Many cultures around the world have stories about these powerful beings. They are often linked with strength, light, and energy.
People have loved and honored the Sun for thousands of years. It gives us warmth, helps plants grow, and gives us daylight. In many stories, the Sun is a kind and important friend to everyone.
Some famous solar deities include Amaterasu, the Japanese sun goddess, and Tōnatiuh, the Aztec god of the Sun. Ra, the Egyptian god with a sun disk on his head, is also well known. These gods and goddesses show how many different cultures look up to the Sun for light and life.
The word “sun” in English comes from an ancient language called Proto-Germanic. In Latin, the Sun is called Sol, and in Greek it is called Helios. These names remind us that people all over the world have always been amazed by the Sun.
