Sukhumi

Sukhumi is a lovely city by the sea. It sits in a wide bay on the eastern coast of the Black Sea. Many people visit Sukhumi because it has beautiful beaches and warm weather.
Long ago, in the 6th century BC, people from Greece lived there and called it Dioscurias. Over many years, Sukhumi has been part of many different places, like the Kingdom of Abkhazia, the Kingdom of Georgia, and the Russian Empire.
Today, Sukhumi is the biggest city in Abkhazia, which many people think is part of Georgia. The city has about 60,000 people. It is a busy port and has an airport. Visitors enjoy the beaches, spas, and the warm climate. Sukhumi is also part of the International Black Sea Club.
The city has many interesting places to see, like old walls, bridges, and gardens. One special spot is the Sukhumi Botanical Garden, where many beautiful plants grow. Sukhumi is a place full of history and natural beauty.
