Temperate Broadleaf and Mixed Forests
Temperate broadleaf and mixed forests are special forests found in many parts of the world. They grow in areas with warm summers and cool winters. These forests have many kinds of trees, like broadleaf trees and conifer trees, all growing together.
You can find these forests in places like central China and eastern North America. They also grow in the Himalayas, Western and Central Europe, near the southern coast of the Black Sea, Australasia, Southwestern South America, and the Russian Far East. These forests are very important for many plants and animals.
Temperate broadleaf and mixed forests have tall trees that make a roof called the canopy. Under this roof, there are smaller trees and bushes. The bottom layer is full of flowers and grasses, which makes it a colorful place for many living things.
These forests are homes to trees like oaks, beeches, maples, and birches. Sometimes, you can also see pine, fir, and spruce trees. In some parts of the world, trees like Nothofagus and Eucalyptus grow here too. The weather in these forests is just right for many plants to grow, with rain falling through the year.
