What is an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle?

An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is a special kind of aircraft that flies without a person sitting inside. Instead, it is controlled from far away or follows a plan made before it takes off. These machines are often called drones.

Where Do Drones Come From?

The idea of drones began a long time ago, in the 1800s! People thought of ways to make aircraft that could fly on their own. Over time, as technology grew better, drones became more common and useful. Today, many countries and companies make and use drones for many different jobs.

Why Are Drones Important?

Drones are very helpful because they can do jobs that might be hard or dangerous for people. They can:

Fun Facts About Drones

  • Different Sizes: Some drones are as small as a hand, while others are as big as a small airplane!
  • Many Shapes: Drones can look like airplanes, helicopters, or even birds. They can fly straight up, hover, or zoom far away.
  • Solar Power: Some special drones can stay in the sky for days using energy from the sun!

Drones are a wonderful example of how clever technology can help us in many ways, making our world easier and more interesting!
