Valletta
Valletta is the capital city of Malta. It sits between two beautiful harbours: the Grand Harbour on one side and the Marsamxett Harbour on the other. Valletta is one of the smallest capital cities in Europe, but it is full of history and wonderful sights.
The city was built in the 1500s by a group of knights called the Knights Hospitaller. They named it after a leader named Jean Parisot de Valette, who helped protect Malta. Valletta has many old and beautiful buildings, like palaces, churches, and gardens. In 1980, it became very special when UNESCO chose it as a World Heritage Site. Later, in 2018, it was named the European Capital of Culture.
Valletta is a place where people can see history all around them. It has strong walls, lovely gardens, and many important buildings. Even though some places were damaged during a difficult time long ago, the city still shines with beauty and stories from the past. Today, it is a busy and bright place where people live, work, and visit to see its amazing treasures.
