Vatican Library
Adapted from Wikipedia · Explorer experience
The Vatican Library is a very special place full of old and important books. It is located in Vatican City, a tiny country in Europe. The library belongs to the Holy See and is one of the oldest libraries in the world.
People can learn about history, law, philosophy, science, and theology here. It has many old books called codices and over a million printed books. Scholars and researchers come from all over to study here.
The idea for the library started with Pope Nicholas V. He wanted a place for scholars in Rome. Later, Pope Sixtus IV officially created the library in 1475. Today, the library is working on putting some of its books online so people everywhere can see them.
Inside the Vatican Library, there are special rooms to keep old books safe. There are also pictures and statues, like one of St Thomas Aquinas. The library has shelves that stretch for many miles! It was closed for a few years to make new rooms to protect the books from weather changes.
The Vatican Library is a wonderful place to learn and explore the world's history and knowledge.
