The Visegrád Group
The Visegrád Group is a friendly team of four countries in Central Europe. These countries are the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia. They work together to help each other in many ways, like culture, energy, and learning.
The group started in 1991 when leaders from Czechoslovakia, Hungary, and Poland met in a beautiful town called Visegrád in Hungary. They chose this place to remember an old meeting from 1335. After Czechoslovakia split into two countries in 1993, the Czech Republic and Slovakia joined, making four friends.
In 2004, all four countries became part of the European Union, which was a big dream for them. Even when they don’t always agree, they still try to help each other and share ideas.
The Visegrád Group likes to work on projects together, like culture and learning. They also help each other stay safe and strong. Even when times are hard, like when people were moving between European countries in 2015, they tried to find good solutions together.
The group’s name comes from the old meeting place in Visegrád, where leaders once talked about trade and important ideas. Today, the Visegrád Group helps its members grow and learn in Europe.
