Welcome to Zhengzhou!
Zhengzhou is a big, busy city in China. It is the capital of Henan Province and has over 12 million people living there. It is the 11th largest city in China.
A Very Old City
Zhengzhou is one of the oldest cities in China. People have lived there for more than 4,000 years! It is part of what we call the "cradle of Chinese civilization." Long ago, it was known as "Guancheng," named after the Guan family who ruled there.
Important City
Zhengzhou is very important for China. It helps with politics, the economy, and getting people and things from place to place. Since the 1990s, the city has grown very fast. Now, it has many businesses, markets, and universities. It is also home to special places like two World Heritage Sites and a UNESCO Global Geopark.
Places to See
Zhengzhou has many interesting places to visit! One famous spot is the Henan Museum, which has lots of old treasures, including dinosaur fossils. Another place is the Shaolin Monastery, about 90 kilometers away. This is where Chinese Kung-fu started. Nearby is the Pagoda Forest, a peaceful place with many old trees.
Moving Around
Zhengzhou is a busy place for travel. It has many ways to get around the city and to other places. The Zhengzhou Metro is a subway system that helps people move quickly. There are also many buses, including special fast buses called BRT.
Zhengzhou is also a key place for trains. Many important railway lines cross here, including the Beijing–Guangzhou Railway. The city has several train stations, including a big one for high-speed trains.
The city's main airport is Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport. Many airlines fly from here, making it easy to visit other places.
Learning and Growing
Zhengzhou is a great place for learning! It has many universities and schools. Some of the big ones are Zhengzhou University and Henan University. In 2025, it was among the top 60 cities in the world for science.

Zhengzhou has friends all over the world. These friendly cities are called sister cities. They work together and share ideas.
