What is Cambrian Series 2?

Cambrian Series 2 is an important time in Earth's history. It is the second part of the Cambrian era, a time when life in the oceans began to grow and change. This series comes after the Terreneuvian and before the Miaolingian.

How Do Scientists Study It?

Scientists are still working to define Cambrian Series 2 clearly. One way they look at this time is by finding the first appearance of ancient sea creatures called trilobites. These small, multi-legged animals were some of the first complex life forms in the oceans. Their appearance around 521 million years ago marks a key moment in Earth's early history.

Dividing the Time

Cambrian Series 2 has two main stages: Cambrian Stage 3 and Cambrian Stage 4. Scientists study these stages by looking at fossils, especially trilobite zones. In different places, like Siberia, they may use other names for these stages. This helps us learn how life developed in the ancient seas.
