Carl Friedrich Gauss
Carl Friedrich Gauss was a clever German scientist who loved numbers and space. He was born on April 30, 1777, in Brunswick, which is now part of Lower Saxony. People remember him because he discovered many important ideas in math and science.
Gauss was a child prodigy in math. This means he could solve hard problems when he was very young. He studied at the University of Göttingen and later became a teacher there. Gauss helped us understand how objects move in space. He even used his math skills to find a tiny planet called Ceres after it disappeared behind the Sun.
Gauss loved making things more exact. He worked on ways to make measurements better, like using the method of least squares. He also studied magnetism and helped build one of the first machines that could send messages over a wire, a very early telegraph.
Many ideas and things are named after Gauss because of his big contributions to science. He received many awards and was respected by scientists all over the world. Gauss passed away in 1855, but his discoveries still help people today.
