Charlie Parker: A Jazz Music Star

Charlie Parker was a famous American jazz musician who played the alto saxophone. People also called him “Bird” or “Yardbird.” He was born on August 29, 1920, in Kansas City, Kansas, and grew up in Kansas City, Missouri.

Parker helped create a special jazz style called bebop. Bebop has fast music and tricky tunes that many people loved. He played with other famous musicians like Dizzy Gillespie and Thelonious Monk. Parker’s music made jazz more exciting and inspired many other musicians.

People remember Charlie Parker for his beautiful music and creative ideas. He wrote many famous songs and performed all over the world. Even today, his music is still loved by many fans. A special saxophone he played is kept at a museum, and there are streets and awards named after him.
